Friday, April 8, is our run to the Empire Mine in Grass Valley. The drive is about 1 1/2 hours, 60 miles.

We have a private 2-hour walking tour beginning at 10:30 am, which takes us to the Empire Mine estate and the mining areas.

The mine is located at 10791 East Empire Street, Grass Valley, CA. Tour cost is $10 per person.

The Empire Mine State Historic Park is the site of one of the oldest, deepest and richest gold mines in California, starting in 1850 and closing in 1956.

The park contains many of the mine’s buildings, the owner’s home and restored gardens.

After the tour, lunch will be at a restaurant in Nevada City. More information to follow.

We will meet at 8:00 am at the Bel Air parking lot, with an 8:15 driver’s meeting and an 8:30 am departure.

A Map and turn-by-turn directions will be given out at the Bel Air.
