Friday, June 10 is our drive to the town of Coloma to James Marshall State Park for a private walking tour that begins at 10:00 am.
The tour cost is $3.00 per person, and parking is $9.00 per car.
Lunch will be in Placerville.
The tour is an easy 40-minute walk. We begin at the Gold Discovery Museum to hear the story of James Marshall and John Sutter and the discovery of gold at Sutter’s Mill.
Then on to the grinding rocks, the sawmill, and several historic buildings including a Chinese Store, a mining methods museum, a blacksmith shop, and James Marshall’s cabin.
The drive to the park is about 50 miles, about 1 hour 10 minutes going the backroads.
We will meet at the Bel Air parking lot at 8:15 am, departing at 8:30, arriving at the park at about 9:45.
Driving directions will be provided at Bel Air.
