On Friday, May 24th we will be taking a fun run to Ione to ride the "Gold Country Express" to Jackson and back, followed by lunch at the Leger Hotel in Mokelumme Hill.  

The run will start with a short trip to Ione where we will board the Rail Cars. This is an EASY electric assist Rail Car that you can pedal. They come as 2-person car or 4-person car.  

The cost is $95 for a 2-person car and $175 for the 4 person car. The trip takes a total of 2 hours.

This is a new experience for the area and sounds like fun!

The Gold Country Express

The Gold Country Express traces the contours of rolling hills revealing panoramic views from the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains all the way to the Coastal Ranges. You'll ride the Amador Central Railroad, originally called the Ione and Eastern built in 1904. Imagine the hills crowded with miners hoping to strike it rich during the gold rush of the 1800's.

Bring a drink and snack to enjoy at the turnaround area above the old Newton Copper Mine, built in 1863.
